LMPN Quarterly (March 25, 2026)

Meeting Objectives:

  • Increase connection and sharing of strategies and approaches to climate action priorities across the Fraser Valley, Metro Vancouver and Squamish – Lillooet Regional Districts
  • Discuss engagement pathways and clear steps this group can take towards building meaningful, purposeful, reciprocal relationships with First Nations (Purpose + Principles = Partnership)
  • Indigenous relationship‑building from principles to practice. Network members heard insights about relationship building practices as shared via a series of personal reflections and takeaways after participation in the Trajectory of Awesomeness Gwen Bridge Learning Series. This included the grounding approach to a shared understanding of the purpose of each relationship and beginning to learn about the People + Place + Principles = Partnership approach. Network members are encouraged to engage in personal learning about ethical space planning
  • The Building & Development Referrals Process is crucial to notify Nations of projects happening across their territory that may impact Rights and Title. Detailed summary of the presentation and discussion insights are included below.
  • The Province shared major updates, including; the dissolution of the Climate Action Secretariat and the restructuring into the new Climate Solutions Division – the Communities Team is now a part of the Electricity and Utility Regulation Division; LGCAP funding is confirmed through until March 2027; and upcoming EMDA requirements are anticipated be available for review via the LMPN at a future network meeting.
  • Several available program offers are available through the year via the Adaptation and Implementation Cohorts. Please reach out to peernetworks@communityenergy.ca with questions about next steps for any of these.
