This handbook focuses on the application of the BC Energy Step Code (ESC) and the BC Zero Carbon Step Code (ZCSC) to new Part 9 residential buildings where the Building Code of British Columbia (BCBC) 2024 applies. It is written for Building Officials who oversee their jurisdiction’s compliance process, complete plan checks and site inspections, and accept as compliant buildings regulated under the ESC and ZCSC.
